Salbutamol sulfate
Indications/Uses
Bronchospasm in all variety of bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis & emphysema.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Elderly Initial lower dose may be given. Adult (>12 yr) 1-2 tab 3-4 times daily, may gradually increase dosage. Childn 6-12 yr 1 tab 3-4 times daily, 2-6 yr ½-1 tab 3-4 times daily.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ thyrotoxicosis, HTN, CV disorders, hyperthyroid, DM. Monitor blood glucose level in diabetic patients receiving IV administration. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <2 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Large dose may cause fine tremor of skeletal muscle (ie, hands), palpitation, muscle spasm, tachycardia, headache, tension. Peripheral vasodilator, nervousness, hyperactivity, epistaxis, insomnia.
Drug Interactions
Inhibited effects by β2 antagonist. Severe HTN w/ monoamine oxidase. Avoid concomitant use w/ non-selective β-blocker ie, propranolol.
